Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use SATRASumm?

All leather and synthetic goods manufacturers can use SATRASumm. Current users include footwear, bag, belt and accessory manufacturers.

Does the software work across a network?

Yes. The basic system is single user. However, this can be extended to run across both local and wide area networks and to support multiple users.

How do I get my pattern information into the system?

Pattern files can be entered either via a digitising tablet (which can be purchased from SATRA) or a file generated from a CAD system. SATRA supports most commonly available CAD systems.

Do you provide equipment for leather grading?

Yes — the equipment required for leather grading is included in the full SATRASumm package. These are the standard inside quarter, large and small grids, and the leather assessment manual.

Does SATRA provide Leather Grading and Cutter Training separately?

Yes, we do. However, the greatest benefits are achieved when you have the whole SATRASumm package. It is also significantly cheaper to buy the SATRASumm package as a whole rather than in modules.

Can we have extra Leather Grading and Cutter Training at a later date?

Yes, you can always purchase additional training to suit your needs.

I am interested in SATRASumm, what is the next step?

We recommend that you take the option of a Feasibility Study. Our consultant will visit your factory and demonstrate how SATRASumm works with your own styles, then cut these styles to prove the allowances.

Can we buy extra training manuals?

There are two manuals for each module (Grading/Software/Cutting) included in the price of the system. Extra manuals are available at additional cost, provided you have already undertaken the relevant training.

Can we buy extra grids and quarters for use during leather grading?

We supply two large grids, two small grids and two quarters with the system. Extra grids and quarters are available at additional cost.

Can we use multiple databases within the same system?

Yes. The SATRASumm program can be connected to any number of different SATRASumm databases. To switch between databases, the user must exit the system and choose a different database before running the software again.

What do you mean by "Material Allowance"?

A material allowance is the amount of material required to cut the stated number of shoes or other products.

Can the system tell us how long the job will take to cut?

Yes. If you have purchased the optional Cutting Times module, SATRASumm will tell you how much time a job should take.

Can I customise the system?

All systems are sold as standard, but there are a number of features which can be customised by users to suit their own way of working.

Who does the installation and setup?

Our consultants will come and install the system to your requirements.

How will I learn about the software and the features it offers?

We provide comprehensive training in all aspects of the SATRASumm system.

Can I link SATRASumm to my other systems?

To maintain SATRASumm’s supportability, it offers links to other systems by way of simple text file inputs and outputs, rather than by overly complex, bespoke integration.

Does the system use passwords to secure my data?

Yes. All your users will have their own passwords, which they set themselves.

Can I set up my own users and passwords?

Yes, you will need to elect someone to be your system supervisor. This person will be able to create user accounts, set rights and reset passwords if your users forget them.

How many users can be logged into the system at any one time?

SATRASumm can be scaled to allow as many simultaneous users as you need. You choose this, based on your requirements and budget, prior to installation. If you require more users in the future then this can be arranged at additional cost.

Will SATRA set the quality standards during the Cutter Training?

We will not impose any standards upon you. We will always work to the company’s, or brand’s, own quality standards.
