European Ecolabel for footwear

From August 2017, all applications for the European Ecolabel will need to be made against the new criteria published last year.

The European Ecolabel is a scheme designed to promote products that have low environmental impact during their production, are free from harmful chemicals and are durable to limit the amount of waste that is generated in the sector. It is intended as a tool to enable consumers to make informed choices about the environmental performance of products on the market.

Changes to the Ecolabelling criteria have been introduced, and awards assessed against the previous criteria (2009-2016) will cease to be valid from August 2017, as described in this article.
