SATRA assisting Asian companies

Reporting on SATRA’s continued growth in the region.

The demand for SATRA’s expertise and services is increasing in Asia. Over recent months, a number of footwear and leather industry companies have discussed their future plans with the SATRA team caring for the region, some of which are described here.

Xingtailai aims for SATRA laboratory accreditation

Xingtailai Sports Products Company Limited manufacturers TPU outsoles for golf, football and cycling shoes, as well as TR/TPR outsoles and ABS heels. The company also designs and produces moulds for outsoles. The company is currently expanding its business, and aims to achieve SATRA Laboratory Accreditation for both its Chinese and Vietnamese in-house laboratories.

Wanfu looks to develop as a SATRA member

Wanfu (Vietnam) Limited, based in the country’s Long An Province, has 500 employees and specialises in producing EVA outsoles and midsoles, rubber solings and innersocks. The company works closely with international shoe brand owners and leading manufacturers in China and Vietnam. The company joined SATRA this year in order to apply SATRA Laboratory Accreditation. Wanfu acknowledges that these steps will bring confidence throughout the supply chain, as SATRA expertise will help to improve product performance and quality.

VF Asia opens new laboratory

SATRA’s John Reed recently visited VF Asia’s new laboratory in Zhongshan, China. The new facility was opened in February this year and comprises ten rooms related to testing covering over 498 square metres. VF Asia was first awarded SATRA Laboratory Accreditation in 2010 for its facility in Panyu, Guangzhou, which had begun operations two years before. The company makes footwear for a number of VF brands.

Jinjing Guotai plans to achieve accreditation

Jinjing Guotai Leather Company founded in 1993 and is based in Jinjiang City, Fujian Province. Specialising in cow split leather, the company has nearly 300 staff working in a facility that includes 12 drums, ten production lines and its own testing laboratory. The monthly production capacity is three million square feet. The company also produces oily-wax, nubuck and nappa leathers, which it says are widely used in development and production of shoes for brand owners and in domestic and foreign markets. Jinjing Guotai Leather is applying for SATRA Laboratory Accreditation.

Awana staff visit SATRA Dongguan laboratory

Dongguan Awana Business Company Limited is a sourcing company specialising in producing fashion footwear, mainly for export to the UK and European markets. As the fashion industry demands a quick turnaround for new products, Awana plans to invest in an in-house SATRA Accredited Laboratory, which was discussed at a recent visit to SATRA. During the visit, the Awana team also considered various SATRA test machines, including the STM 566 tensile tester, the STM 156 heel fatigue tester, and the STM 603 slip resistance tester.
