Webinars and Online Resources

SATRA online resource continues to grow

The online SATRA resource centre is proving to be a valuable supply of timely information for members around the world.

SATRA intends to continue with its popular programme of live online webinars covering a variety of key industry topics. Recent presentations have included ‘Fashion heels and backpart construction’, ‘The importance of process control in the factory’, ‘Trend forecasting for spring/summer 22’ and a UKCA panel discussion with a question-and-answer session. Details of SATRA webinars are published on www.satra.com/resources and they will supplement on-site training that will resume once it is responsible to do so. These webinars are presented (sometimes with a Chinese translation) on specific days at 10:00 GMT and are often repeated at 16:00 GMT for members in North and South America. Attendee numbers for these events has been very high – hundreds of members have taken advantage of this new online provision, all of whom have the opportunity to pose questions during the presentations and hear a live response at the conclusion of the session.

In addition to the regular live events, SATRA is rapidly building an online library of recordings of the webinars, as well as supplementary video presentations on a variety of key footwear-related issues, access to which is reserved for member companies. This online provision ensures that all members who were unable to watch the live online events can still benefit from the experience of SATRA’s experts and other industry figures whenever they choose. These presentations include fast-moving and informative reports on such issues as the chemical testing of children’s footwear, managing consumer complaints, slip resistance of footwear soles, common failures in safety footwear, water resistance of footwear, and selling children’s footwear in Europe.

Other video discussions in the members’ resources section examine sustainability in the footwear industry and chemical compliance with the European REACH legislation. This site also includes a number of short SATRA video reports on thermal properties, grit testing and the Global Foot Dimensions study.

SATRA members can also search for and read SATRA Bulletin articles covering a comprehensive archive of technical information from the past 100 issues.

The photograph above shows SATRA head of innovations and development Tom Bayes explaining in one of the video presentations how to achieve water resistance in footwear.
