The ongoing programme of live webinars presented by SATRA experts on a variety of key topics is proving very popular with members around the world. However, while hundreds of online attendees have taken advantage of this provision, the particular day and time of a broadcast may not be suitable for some members’ diaries.

Therefore, in addition to the regular live events, SATRA has created an archive of recordings of the webinars as well as supplementary video presentations on a number of key footwear industry issues, online access to which is reserved for member companies. This provision ensures that all members who were unable to watch the live online events can still benefit from the experience of SATRA’s experts and other industry figures by logging onto the dedicated website section – detailed below – whenever they choose.

The collection of recorded webinars covers a wide range of topics, including the following:

Two live webinars for SATRA members will be held in the near future. These sessions will be presented at 10:00 BST and repeated at 16:00 BST for members in North and South America.

Thursday 11th August 2022 – ‘Phthalate plasticisers: the importance of testing for restricted phthalates’. This webinar will provide an insight into the regulations surrounding the presence of phthalate plasticisers in footwear and consumer products – legislation which can be complex and difficult to understand. Some phthalates are described as ‘endocrine disruptors’ and their use is restricted. SATRA can test for the presence of these restricted substances (which should be part of routine substances evaluation) and this event will also explain more about the phthalate testing services we provide.

Thursday 1st September 2022 – ‘Innovative materials as an alternative to leather?’ We are currently seeing in the market a growing number of plant-based materials touted as alternatives to leather. The sustainability claims of these new materials are increasing every day, but could they equal leather in most relevant functional performance parameters? This webinar will explain more about the suitability of these materials for shoemaking.

How can we help?
