Using oily leathers in shoemaking

Describing what makes an oily leather and the precautions which may need to be taken when using it in shoemaking.

The principal object of the oily finish is to confer a matt, greasy look to the leather. It is necessary only to treat the grain surface and oil, grease or wax may be used.
