Growth in Portuguese footwear exports

Sales of Portuguese footwear in South Korea increased by 18.2 per cent.

The Portuguese Footwear, Components, Leather Goods Manufacturers’ Association (APICCAPS) has announced that the sector has ‘strong competitive capacity in a challenging international context marked by instability in strategic markets like Germany and France’.

There was a rise during the first nine months of 2025 in the export value of safety footwear (plus 17 per cent), children’s footwear (up by 6 per cent), and footwear in textile materials (by 18.8 per cent). Europe was still the primary destination, taking around 80 per cent of exports during this period. In Asia, sales in South Korea grew by 18.2 per cent and revenue from Japan saw a 4.8 per cent boost.
