US-based footwear producer Wolverine Worldwide (WWW) has published its annual Global Impact Report, with this new document detailing the company’s efforts during 2024 in the categories of ‘people’, ‘planet’, ‘product’ and ‘purpose’. Three-quarters of its employees participated in a 2024 engagement survey, and the results are said to highlight a commitment to shaping workplace culture.
The Global Impact Report includes for the first time measurements of WWW’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions and mentions that 17,000 MWh of ‘Renewable Energy Credits’ were purchased in order to offset electricity usage at its North American facilities.
In addition, the report states that all leather used was sourced from tanneries rated either gold or silver by the Leather Working Group. During the year, some 155 social compliance audits were conducted at 96 per cent of the company’s Tier 1 factories and nearly 170 tons of corrugated cardboard and paper were recycled at various locations in the USA.
According to Chris Hufnagel, chief executive of Wolverine Worldwide, the business has continued to transform, with its focus being sharpened and teams aligned around a ‘bold new vision’.
“Our new vision and values are a call to action that drives and directs our actions across people, planet, product and purpose,” commented Mr Hufnagel. “From reducing our environmental footprint and sourcing more responsibly, to empowering our employees and giving back to our communities, we’re proud of our progress we’ve made, but equally we know we can and should do better.”
