SATRA joins the BBIA

The BBIA is focused on the adoption of biobased, biodegradable and compostable chemicals and materials.

SATRA has become a member of the ‘Biobased and Biodegradable Industries Association’ (BBIA). The work of this organisation is focused on accelerating the adoption of biobased, biodegradable and compostable chemicals and materials to create a sustainable circular economy. Across the footwear sector, a key focus is a transition from fossil-based to bio-based materials.

By joining the BBIA, we will be able to strengthen our knowledge and offering in this area to support SATRA members. Recent papers published by the BBIA cover a diverse range of topics, including frameworks to compare the environmental impacts of fossil-based, bio-based and biodegradable materials, effective communication in relation to bio-based and biodegradable materials, and standards for bio-based and biodegradable materials.
