On takes next step toward circularity
Returned products will be prepared for resale, and all pieces that are unfit for this will be donated via partner organisations.

Swiss sporting products specialists On has launched the next step of its ‘Cyclon’ programme, designed to challenge the ‘use and throw away’ model. Customers are incentivised to return their pre-loved On products and be able to purchase refurbished items, to keep products in use and materials in circulation for as long as possible. The company states that it is relentlessly innovating circular materials, attempting to both extend product lifespans and minimise the creation of waste at every manufacturing stage.
Launched in 2022 as a subscription-based service for recyclable sportswear, the original Cyclon programme is said to have delivered valuable information which has led directly to this new offering. The existing subscription service will now be discontinued, making way for what is being described as ‘a brand-wide resale-donation-recycling ecosystem’.
Returned products will be prepared for resale, and all pieces that are unfit for this will be donated via partner organisations. If donation is not possible, the products will be recycled. According to On, its mission to eliminate waste begins long before a shoe reaches a customer, as the company is increasing efforts to source circular materials, including recycled and regenerative options.
