Skechers begins automating new distribution centre

Skechers has announced that construction of its new European distribution centre near Liège Airport, Belgium, is nearing completion. The 230,000 square metre facility, located close to the company’s existing Milmort operation, is expected to support a smooth transition while strengthening Skechers’ logistics capabilities across Europe.

David Weinberg, chief operating officer at Skechers, said the investment marks the next stage of the company’s long-term commitment to Wallonia and will enhance its distribution network through advanced automation and sustainable design.

The centre is targeting BREEAM Excellence certification, reflecting high standards of energy efficiency and environmental performance. According to Skechers, automation will be introduced alongside existing operations rather than replacing employees, helping the company to maintain its Belgian base while improving productivity and capacity.

Installation of the automation system is now under way, with the first phase scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. Once fully implemented, the system is planned to integrate logistics processes from goods receipt through to order dispatch within a redesigned company supply chain operation.

The project represents the latest phase of Skechers’ European growth strategy. Skechers USA Benelux BV is a subsidiary of California-based Skechers USA Inc.
