The third article of this series considers the control of material usage within the shoemaking process.
The job of first line supervision is generally reckoned to be one of the most stressful and difficult in shoe manufacturing. Operatives are constantly seeking advice, pushing for decisions and pressurising the supervisor/foreman for better and easier conditions of work and pay. He or she represents the face of management and will likely have to communicate relevant decisions made by the owners of the business.
