The safety and reliability of children’s shoes has always been a key concern of shoemakers and retailers. Progressively more demanding legislation, coupled with rising consumer expectations provide a major challenge to our industry and here at SATRA we constantly see, and test, children’s footwear to help keep these products to the required level.

When carrying out risk assessments correctly, it is vital to ensure that the users, who may be considered as more vulnerable by virtue of ability or understanding, are offered products which meet both their and market expectations.

For products such as toys and childcare articles special requirements have been established to demonstrate the safety of products intended for children. However children’s footwear is not considered as either toys or childcare articles and therefore suppliers of children’s footwear need to develop techniques and procedures to address the potential risks associated with the use and performance of the complete range of children’s footwear from slippers, through school shoes to wellingtons and trainers.

Based on the successful workshop held in 2015 to overview the safety and quality for children’s footwear, this course offers an intensive look at the key aspects, with practical work and the opportunity to discuss the attendee’s own products with the relevant experts.

Who should attend?

This event is aimed at anyone involved in the manufacture, supply, distribution or specification of children’s footwear.
