The first part of this module reviews risk assessment associated with product liability when the footwear fails or causes injury (or damage to property) in wear. The importance of risk management is discussed, including the impact of consumer legislation and product liability issues on the supply of consumer goods. The customer’s expectations and marketing claims are also considered.

Risk identification and risk analysis are highlighted in this module, which also features practical exercises in assessing the risks of specific footwear items. The session also looks at some of the most important performancerelated issues associated with product liability, including slip resistance, heel attachment, sole bonds, and issues affecting foot injuries, such as allergies and fit.

The second day will provide participants with an understanding of the purpose, organisation and content of a quality management system, and an appreciation of how to apply this to their own company needs. It will also review what we undrstand by ‘quality’ and the associated costs.

The second day will also cover the requirements of ISO 9001 and basic auditing against this particular standard and how this can be used to audit their own company’s suppliers.

Depending on the location of the course, a practical audit may be undertaken.

There is a variable cost per module, depending on how many modules the delegate attends. All prices shown are excluding VAT.
