SATRA China Technical Seminar Programme

SATRA technical experts will be in China (Dongguan) in May 2019 to present detailed seminars on the latest developments in footwear and PPE.

There will be 6 seminars over four days, either half-day or full-day in length, which will be  presented in English with Chinese translations (written and spoken).

4 of the seminars are open only to SATRA member companies but the first and fifth ones (Tuesday 14th May and Thursday 16th May) are open to all and will be held in the SATRA China office. 

Morning sessions: 0930-1230

Afternoon sessions: 1330-1630

Seminars are free for SATRA member companies.

Tuesday morning and Thursday – non-members will need to pay 150RMB on the door.

Testing of Children’s Footwear: Testing using toy standards; Chemical testing; General testing; Fitting

Footwear for children needs to withstand both intended and unintended foreseeable use. We discuss the physical and chemical tests recommended to ensure the footwear is safe and suitable for use.

Innovation & Product Development

The journey of producing an inventive new product is rarely simple. SATRA have helped companies bring their new ideas to reality, in this seminar we discuss some of the challenges that can be encountered, how we can work to overcome them and how new innovations can invoke changes to test methods.

Industrial Footwear for the European Market: EU PPE Regulations; Certification (building a technical file); Physical testing; Innocuousness

Industrial footwear for the European market must now be certified to the PPE Regulation. Physical and chemical testing according to EN ISO 20344 will be covered, as well as additional tests for motorcycle, firefighters and chainsaw resistant footwear.

Sole bonds and sole bond failures: Bonding theory; Adhesive types; Bonding methods; Testing

Sole bond failures remain one of the most common causes of footwear returns. John Reed discusses bonding theory, application, testing and identifying failures & the errors in production from which they are indicative.
