One of the obvious benefits of operating High Velocity Air (HVA) heat setters is that last turnaround times can be significantly reduced, decreasing the number of lasts required for each style.
A potentially worrying side effect of this, however, is that individual lasts are subjected to the various shoemaking processes more often during the day. This also provides less time for the lasts to cool down between cycles, so their temperature will inevitably rise – even more so, considering HVA heat setters typically operate at up to 130°C.
To address these concerns, refrigerated cooling chambers have been developed for use during production, which Lee Wilson will discuss in this webinar.
