A new part to the EN 455 series of standards for medical gloves was published in August 2025. EN 455-5:2025 ‘Medical gloves for single use – Extractable chemical residues’ establishes a test method to quantify residues of chemicals used in glove manufacturing, particularly type IV allergenic substances. Whilst this new part in the series does not establish requirements, these will be established shortly in a 2026 revision to EN 455-3.
