This webinar, reserved for SATRA members, is for personnel from any part of the footwear supply chain that have an interest in upper material technology.
Mark Southam, one of SATRA's senior footwear team technologists, reviews the variety of synthetic suedes and nubucks available for the footwear manufacturer. Delegates will initially consider the natural, leather-based products that are being emulated and explore the differences between suede and nubuck. Then they will discuss the various techniques used to make synthetic versions of these materials, from simple flocked fabrics through to more sophisticated microfibres. The session will also examine the structure and properties of these materials, and the critical tests that can be used to assess them.
