Science and Technology from SATRA at Delapre Abbey

SATRA confirms a stand at the BBC Northampton Northamptonshire Day show Sunday 30th September at Delapré Abbey. The show is all about celebrating the best of everything you can find in the county. SATRA is a well-known name and employer in the region having been established in Northampton in 1919 but is now a global organisation providing technical services to help companies improve their products all over the world. SATRA has over 200 staff at its headquarters in Kettering and has recently invested in another new building as it hopes to continue to be a leading Northamptonshire employer for many more years to come.
Members of SATRA’s research and testing team will be on hand to show visitors of all ages some exciting experiments, such as chromatography using skittles, wicking, thermal imaging, slip resistance and waterproofing of walking boots and 3D printing. They will also be doing demonstrations of abrasion testing, tensile testing and footwear construction. For local entrepreneurs who may have products that need testing to national and European standards, the SATRA team will also be able to help with what is required to ensure their products are fit for purpose and safe.
The Northamptonshire Day show will comprise of a wide range of traders, local artisan food producers and crafts people selling handmade items, as well as some local charities and organisations promoting their work. This is a family fun event with children’s sporting activities in the walled garden, including some science experiments and bulb planting with the BBC Northampton gardening presenter. Local bands will be performing on the bandstand with some exciting dance performances too.
Find the SATRA blue tent located on the Rear Lawn at Delapré Abbey from 11am to 5pm on Sunday 30th September. Entrance is free.
