Sustainability Workshop on Biodegradability Testing of Leather

When organisations are considering the end-of-life impact of different materials in a product the question "How biodegradable is it?" is often asked. Karl Flowers, Co-founder and Director of Authenticae and SATRA's Technical Adviser, Tom Bayes, will discuss some of the tests available. They will also look at plant response testing to consider whether leather compost can be safely applied to agricultural land.

Stitching and How the New SATRA VisionStitch Can Help

SATRA has significantly updated and released a new “SATRA VisionStitch” which has been used by factories to improve their stitching since the 1980s. The software allows you to see and improve how stitching and the machine are working in a completely different way. SATRA’s Ray Wisken explains how the visual display and training improve the complete stitching process.

Sports PPE

There is a wide range of sports protection used for professional, amateur and recreational sports and many of these protective items are considered as PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). This requires that they should be tested to the relevant standard, in addition to type examination process (CE and/or UKCA marking). This session includes a presentation discussing the various standards covering sports such as football, hockey, cricket and martial arts, and the testing required to meet them. The certification process is also discussed.
