Test Method: SATRA 465
Rebound Resilience
August 2025

SCOPE
This method is intended to determine the rebound resilience of a material. The method is mainly applicable to flexible polymeric compounds of hardness between 30 IRHD and 85 IRHD but can also be used to assess any compressible component or sheet material.
PRINCIPLE
A pendulum device having a striker with a hemispherical end impacts a flat test piece with plane parallel surfaces, securely held vertically, but with unconstrained edges so that it is free to bulge. The rebound height of the impacting mass is compared with its release height in order to express, as a percentage, the kinetic energy of the impacting mass which is returned after the impact.
